Which is more beautiful Corsica or Sardinia?
While French Corsica is relatively wild, greener and more 'undiscovered', Italian Sardinia offers miles of other-worldly beaches, pristine resorts and chic towns. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Sardinia, almost 3 times the size of Corsica, has a longer coastline (over 1000km!) and therefore a longer stretch of beautiful beaches to choose from - however, Corsica's turquoise waters and unspoiled sandy beaches are the equal of Sardinia's for beauty.
At their closest point, the Mediterranean islands are only 11 kilometers apart. But they can be poles apart: Corsica less developed (in the interior, anyway), Sardinia more of a yacht magnet. Both attract hundreds of thousands of tourists a year. Both can be lovely and hypnotic.
yes they are, insofar they are both neo-Latin languages. But their histories are different. Corsican language can be associated to the vulgar Latin languages of central Italy, while Sardinian is a vulgar Latin language on its own. this is hardly surpising because Corsica is much closer to Italy than Sardinia.
Chosen by many as a summer and beach destination, Sardinia is famous for the clear and pristine waters, awarded time after time, and for the variety of its coasts.
Corsica is slightly more expensive than Sardinia, both islands really are Italianate in flavour. (Corsica is not really French at heart but a very individual island with an Italian feel). The traditional food in Corsica is very hearty, wild boar stews, etc.
They are stunning islands, and each is better under different aspects. If you want a sun and sea vacation, then Sardinia wins this, hands down. It's arguably home to the best beaches in Europe. Crystal-clear waters, pink sands and breathtaking panoramas.
As we have alluded to, both isles have fantastic beaches and opportunities for adventure. Both islands are home to via ferrata, but if you're looking for more mountainous pursuits, Corsica is best with 20 of its' mountains higher than 2000 metres.
Corsica has outstanding assets in its climate, scenery, and magnificent coastline, all of which promote tourism. The island's network of paved roads is adequate, and a railway links Ajaccio, Bastia, and Calvi. Corsica is connected by air and sea with continental France.
It is no surprise that Sardinia is also called “The Caribbean of the Mediterranean Sea”. The turquoise water and breath-taking beaches call for road trips around the island and long beach days. There are many bays and beaches to explore all around the island.
Is Corsica very touristy?
Corsica is a popular holiday destination among tourists, best known around the world for its warm climate, dramatic mountain peaks and stunning coastlines.
Absolutely. Like any destination, it has its advantages and disadvantages. But it is a truly beautiful island where in just a few hours you can go from paradisiacal beaches to high mountains. It has character, as much by its landscapes, as by its gastronomy or its culture.
The Costa Smeralda is a stretch of coastline in northern Sardinia. In Italian, its name means the Emerald Coast, a nod to the many colour variations of its waters. Today it's a popular vacation spot for celebrities because of its white sandy beaches and glitzy resorts.
North or South Sardinia depending on the type of holiday
If you are looking for a luxury holiday in Sardinia, the Costa Smeralda is the right place for you. If you wish to find peace and quiet and less crowded beaches, you can choose among many resorts in the North, which have just what you need.
Costa Smeralda is the most expensive locations in Europe. House prices reach up to 300,000 euros ($392,200) per square meter. The main towns and villages in the area, built according to a detailed urban plan, are Porto Cervo, Liscia di Vacca, Capriccioli, and Romazzino.
Jutting out from the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea between France and Italy, Corsica is famed throughout Europe for its stunning scenery. Corsica is popular for both its mountainous central area and stunning white sand beaches lapped by turquoise waters.

As most visitors come for the beaches, you'll find yourself moving around a lot and this takes time. For a first-time visitor, you really need at least 10 days to see a good portion of Sardinia. 10 days, and 3 different bases, will let you explore most of the island's highlights, though just the surface.
When it comes down to architecture, Sicily is the best choice for a brilliant array of Greek and Roman ruins. Fans of Romanesque design will find a lot more to enjoy in Sardinia, and the famous Bronze Age structures are also a highlight if you have an interest in very early human history.
I'd advise going for at least 14 days if you want to go around the WHOLE island. But if you only have a couple of days, then don't worry because you can easily narrow it down to one part of the island. This post will give you a good insight into all the places we visited in 10 days.
Can you swim from Sardinia to Corsica?
Swim across the Bonifacio channel in this 16K lifetime achievement crossing from Sardinia (Italy) to the French coast of the island of Corsica! You'll start on the beach of Rena Bianca, Sardinia (Italy) and cross to the beach of Punta Sperone, Corsica (France) across a stretch of blue Mediterranean Sea linking the two.

Yes, Corsica is expensive, possibly slightly more so than the Cote d'Azur. The poor exchange rate has made it worse of course. But as is usual, you get what you pay for and most people would think Corsica was worth the expense.
The country differs from the rest of France because of its insularity, its particular language and culture, and, politically, because of the existence of a national movement of its own that demands self-government for Corsica.
Corsica is 8 miles north of Sardinia accessed by a 50 minute ferry journey from Santa Teresa on the northern tip of Sardinia to Bonifacio in southern Corsica. Sicily is approximately 220 miles from Sardinia (Cagliari to Trapani) and can be reached by a short flight or longer ferry crossing.
